Match Report

After our first win against Okehampton, pre-season was looking promising and although North lost against Hornets it was a pleasing performance given that several key players were absent. North did not start as well as they would have hoped with injury to Roger Casper and struggled to cope with Hornets movement of the ball in behind the midfield meaning they found themselves one goal down within 10 minutes. Hornets continued to dominate and North to often gave away possession. Hornets then scored another yet North continued to battle on. North started to find their rhythm going forward with frontman Giles Rowden holding the ball up for debutant Tom Sherratt and Joe Taylor-Richards to run in behind the Hornets defence. Eventually North found the net through Craig Attwood which was of great relief only to have Hornets strike back a few minutes later. At Half-time North made a few changes which strengthened the midfield and put immediate pressure on Hornets. Man of the match Dom Cork really made the difference in the second half but unfortunately, North overcommitted, Hornets broke quickly and scored another goal. North rallied and with a number chances it seemed inevitable that North would soon score and eventually they did with a goal from Giles Rowden. This was followed up with another from Craig Attwood. North continued to press and looked a different team in the second half but could not find that equalising goal. North now go into the first league game against Firebrands A at Park School 2.30pm.
