2nd Team Vs ECV Hornets B

It was opening day glory for North Devon A in front of a packed Culm Valley Sports Centre.

With a bit of doubt going into the first weekend, North Devon didn’t know whether they were playing at home or not due to COVID-19 and not having a pitch. Despite all of this, Hornets were very accommodating and allowed us to play at their ground on a Sunday lunchtime.

We dominated proceedings from the first whistle, creating many chances through a strong midfield. Despite a couple of saves from the Hornets’ keeper, North Devon took the lead through Simon Allen. We continued to make chances before half time, converting two of them; goals coming from regular Josh Thorne and debutant and man of the match Edd Waterman.

North Devon A started the second half slowly, with Hornets creating more opportunities but lacking conviction, as goalkeeper Phil Daniels kept them at bay. This sprung the team into life and they started dominating things again as more goals came from Fionn Toland and another two from Simon Allen. No more goals were scored at either end giving North Devon A their first clean sheet in a long time.

Hopefully, North Devon can continue this early form into their next game away to Taunton Vale E.
