Match Report

North Devon A went to Taunton with high spirits having won their first game of the season.

The team started strongly with chances coming thick and fast in the first 5 minutes through captain Gus Napier, best chance of being squandered in front of the travelling fans. It didn’t take long for North Devon to take the lead through Josh Thorne as the pressure they had built up in the early stages was finally paid off. This was Thornes second goal in two weeks. After the first 25 minutes, North Devon A were 3-0 up, goals coming from Skipper Gus Napier, one he deflected a lifted pass from other goal scorer Thorne, and the other from a scuffed short corner.

The team continued to pressurise the Vale defence as they had attack after attack, but no more goals were added before the break.

The second half saw Vale got more into the game but it wasn’t enough to test a strong back four in Scott Paddon, Robbie Wheeler, Richard Heritage and Goalkeeper Phil Daniels. As both teams grew tired, the game grew sloppy and now more goals were added to the score line.
