Match Report

North Devon 2s travelled away to Sidmouth and Ottery 3s, the team sat second in the table in the aim of continuing their perfect start to the season.

With a strong side fielded, North Devon started the game in a battling fashion. Some good defence and good saves from keeper Phil Daniels kept the scoreline goalless until a through ball from Josh Thorne split the Sidmouth defence leaving Toby Spear to finish past the keeper.

The game continued in a similar fashion with Daniels making an excellent double save on the stroke of half time meaning North Devon had a 1-0 lead going into the interval.

The second half was a different story with North Devon cutting loose. Some fantastic build up play allowed Man of the Match, Fionn Toland to score the second goal of the game.

On winning a short corner, before feeding the ball to the top of the D, Robert Wheeler suggested we needed someone extra at left slip. Thorne took this position up and when Simon Allen’s original shot was saved the ball came straight to Thorne who calmly slotted past the Sidmouth keeper.

Sidmouth then rallied and scored from a short to make the score 3-1.

North Devon were on the ropes for a minute or two but then effectively killed off the game with a goal from Oscar Spear on the break.

A penalty corner with a few minutes left with Simon Allen sending a rocket past the keeper to the bottom right corner gave the result as a fantastic 5-1 win for North Devon.

The team can be very proud of their performance and are at home next week at 2.30pm to Torbay 3s.
